Seconds to Go opened in 1999 in its former location at 516 East Liberty, offering donated merchandise for sale to the public. The business rapidly outgrew its location as community citizens donated more and more used merchandise and the concept of "a huge indoor garage sale" caught on. In 2005 a new building was constructed at 623 East Holt that now houses Seconds to Go.
Mexico and area citizens are very generous, filling our donation sheds daily at our convenient location just behind HSI's main building at 508 East Liberty. We accept donations of gently used items for resale such as clothing, shoes, hats, coats, toys, purses, belts, blankets, books, tables, chairs, lamps, bicycles, etc. NO LARGE APPLIANCES (such as washers, dryers, stoves or refrigerators) are accepted as well as mattresses, box springs or televisions. The donation sheds are open from dawn until dusk seven days a week.
Donation tax forms may be claimed at the HSI office between the hours of 7 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Seconds to Go provides employment to individuals with disabilities as well as full and part time staff members. Seconds to Go also provides funding for additional employees who work in other facets of HSI's growing business.
